Atemmuskeln

Respiratory muscles move the rib cage. They are controlled by a certain area in the brain- the respiratory centre. If strength, endurance or mobility and consequently the flexibility of the respiratory muscles diminish, the pumping power decreases:

  • Total volume (litres) of air per breath [tidal volume] and accordingly the
  • total volume (litres) of air per minute [minute volume: how many times "x how much" in one minute = respiratory rate (RR) x tidal volume (TV)].
Did you know?
This way, not only physical capacity (How fast and how long can I walk?) is reduced but also the way in which such a performance is delivered by the cardiovascular system (reaction in the body).
